Unlike most
recording studios my workshop is located not in a basement, but -
soundproof as well - under the rooftop in the attic.
Advantages: better climate and better panorama.
Drawback: limited headroom, nothing for headbangers!
The core part is a 2x12 (=24)-multitrack homerecording machine, particularly the DPS24 from AKAI - a collector's item and in the semiprofessional area one of the best amongst the so-called 'Stand-alone-units'.
The other equipment is guided by the style of the music and consists of several acoustic guitars, some electric guitars and a Fender bass guitar. A classical tube combo from Marshall serves as the amplifier to the E-guitars. The effect's gear to the guitars is the GT-100 from Boss; it offers all effects, that are needed.
The bass guitar runs through the "Bass POD Line 6".
The few material I am recording in an electronical manner is processed by a keyboard from Roland together with a MIDI-Soundmodul made by Korg.
The biggest difference to the classic rock gear exists with the
drumkit: for the benefit of saving space and reducing noise drum
recording takes place via Roland's "V-Drums"
- the only electronical drumkit with genuine mesh-head-drumheads and
realistic tactile feedback - from the hi-hat and cymbals as well.
